Commitment to Financial Accessibility

OUR COMMITMENT

At Montessori Island School, we believe that every family should have the opportunity to choose a meaningful Montessori education for their child, regardless of financial circumstances. In recent years, expanding access has become a key strategic priority, reflecting both shifting economic realities and our commitment to building a more inclusive and community-responsive school.

We’ve made thoughtful, lasting changes to our tuition model to better serve our community, supporting a wider range of families while also investing in long-term sustainability for our teaching staff. Our goal is to make Montessori education more available to those who seek it, while ensuring meaningful, supported careers for the educators who make this work possible.

These efforts are making a measurable difference.  70% of our ~100 enrolled students participate in some form of tuition support, and in the upcoming school year, we will provide over $200,000 in financial assistance, a 33% increase from last year.

Today, our financial accessibility efforts include:

  • A sliding scale tuition structure that allows families to select a rate aligned with their unique financial situation.

  • Continuing acceptance of state and privately funded scholarships, such as ACE and Best Beginnings, which currently bring in about $30,000 in additional tuition support each year.

  • Supplemental tuition assistance for families for whom tuition would represent a significant portion of their income.
